More about JBR Fire Compliance

At JBR Fire Compliance, we believe a fire risk assessment isn’t just a checklist exercise; it is a holistic view of all matters related to fire safety in the workplace or residential setting.

To achieve full compliance and maximum safety, we take a helicopter view of the current risks in your property, alongside the people who could be harmed by them. From there, we create documented action plans to mitigate those hazards as far as reasonably possible.

Our approach focuses on providing practical, risk-based advice that helps responsible persons achieve compliance while maintaining safe and effective building operations.

Professional development remains a key priority. In addition to numerous industry training courses completed over the years, I am currently undertaking an Advanced Fire Alarm System Design course and have recently enrolled on a Level 5 Fire Engineering programme with Delta Fire Engineering, which is designed to further develop engineering knowledge and understanding of complex fire safety matters.

Our qualifications include ABBE Level 4 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment & Nationally Accredited Fire Risk Assessor Register (NFRAR) Tier 3 Registered Assessor. Tier 3 is the highest level of registration available, recognising assessors as competent to undertake assessments of complex and higher-risk premises.

Through our work, we’ve carried out fire risk assessments for a wide range of property types, including residential apartment blocks, HMOs & supported housing, hotels & guest accommodations (including Airbnbs), Commercial & retail premises, industrial & warehouses, as well as mixed-use developments.

JBR Fire Compliance
More Than a Document

As a commercial property owner, it is a legal requirement to have a valid, up-to-date fire risk assessment for your workplace.

However, at JBR Fire Compliance we know this is not just a simple ‘get and forget’ document. It is a living document that must evolve as your building, your occupancy and work process develop.

Fire safety legislation can be daunting, especially for high-risk or multi-occupancy buildings. That is why you need to choose a reliable partner to assist you every step of the way. We will always be there for any customer, past or present, to advise and assist in ensuring your fire risk assessment never goes out of date.

Under Article 9 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Responsible Person must make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the fire risks to which relevant people are exposed. That assessment exists so you can identify the general fire precautions you need to take.

In most commercial premises the Responsible Person is the employer, owner, landlord or occupier with control of the premises. In a multi-occupied building, duties are often shared: the freeholder or managing agent usually owns the common parts, while each tenant remains responsible for their own demise. Gaps appear when nobody records who owns which duty.

Since 1 October 2023, every Responsible Person must record the assessment in full — not only the old “significant findings”, and not only if you employ five or more people. You must also record the name of the person or organisation that carried out or reviewed the assessment.

Completing a report does not, on its own, make the building compliant. The legal duty is to assess the risk, record it, put the precautions in place, and keep the assessment current.
